Abstract: The geological storage of CO2 is one of mitigation measures for greenhouse effect. In order to guarantee the effectiveness, safety and durability of the storage, some essential monitoring and management measures should be implemented for drilling wells (including injection wells and abandoned wells), subsurface CO2 distribution and migration conditions, local environment effects of leaks from CO2 reservoirs, and so on. On the basis of reviewing the related references, various monitoring technologies during CO2 geological storage are summarized.

Key words: CO2, geological storage, subsurface distribution, environment effects, monitoring technologies
